I have been volunteering in 2 different schools in Stara Zagora for the last 4 months. It has been a roller-coaster: exciting with all new experiences, daunting at times when I feel I need to improve my Bulgarian language fast, and empowering – feeling proud of myself that I did even better than I have expected.
The students from the primary classes are graduating very soon. I already feel their excitement and anticipation of the upcoming summer holidays.
As I am a big lover of arts and crafts, together with them we did some goodbye school year cards. I wrote on them wishes and congratulations on how good they have been in Bulgarian language. (I did it all by myself and with very little Google translate help). The kids really love encouragement and this is my way of having them in their best behavior during our classes.
I am really hoping to meet them again in September, they will be more grown and hopefully will still remember me and what we did and studied together.
